The 5-kilometer Bagerhat town protection embankment, built over 6 years ago at a cost of Tk 6.40 crore on the bank of Bhairab River is threatened by tide.
Twentyeight sluice gates of the embankment, which became inoperative a couple of years ago, cannot hold back the river water which is rolling down on Bagerhat and Mongla towns overflowing the dam causing havoc.
