Flood situation worsened in Satkhira and Khula with a minor drowning in Digholia upazila in Khulna, several hundred villages going under water in the two districts rendering several lakh marooned on Tuesday, reports UNB.
A cross dam caved in at several points at Madhabpur in Digholia opening up the floodgate rendering several dozen families who lived in the area homeless.Takina Begum, 2, daughter of Mikail Fakir of Madhabpur drowned as tide carried away her along with their thatched house as soon as the dam crumpled in the morning.Rain-fed rivers swelled abnormally overflowing their banks inundating scores of villages damaging roads, houses planted crops, fish enclosures and seed-beds in the last four days ending 6pm Tuesday.
